As one grows up habits undergo change. There was a time when i used to cringe at the thought of sleeping in the afternoons and now i cannot do without it,my wardrobe is no longer filled with only blues and purples and i have developed a liking for old hindi music. But thankfully in all these years one thing has not changed- my love for food, which involves eating good food, stirring up a (great) meal and feeding my friends.

Good food and new tastes keep me going. i love to improvise and rarely stick to one thing on the menu. I find south Indian non vegetarian food with its heady mix of pepper and curry leaves healing, whiff of freshly pound green curry paste divine,delicate-greasy kebabs comforting.

I remember my first (unsuccessful) attempt in kitchen. I was around 13-14 years old. The little girl in me instantly fell in the love with the smell and sight of hot oil, burnt garlic and pale pink onions. Since then i have been held captive.

I grew up watching wannabe chefs like sanjeev kapoor and tarla dala. They were my window to international cuisine. I learnt about pastas, dips and pancakes courtesy their painfully dramatic shows on TV. Then came the wave of swanky cookery shows, where a model or a some pretty face used to try and dish up a quick meal. I'm grateful to my innate sense of taste that i was quick to graduate from these mock" make a meal pretty" shows. I soon realised that loading food with spices can never please the taste buds. And thus, was abandoned the art of sabotage.

Over years i have become a die hard fan of vir sanghvi's column rude food. I love the way he quotes anecdotes about food ,lending a highly personalised touch to his column. His descriptions are almost graphic. While reading a piece on kulfis, i could feel the creamy sugary milk coat my mouth. He's got the best job possible.I wish i could step into his boots and savour myriad tastes and sights. Also, i diligently follow the culinary escapades of Anthony bourdain,Gordon Ramsay,Nigella lawson and Kylie kwong.

This blog will follow my experiences and experiments with food. From the most queer things i have put down my throat to the least appealing ones, from the crowded lanes of old Delhi, roof top cafes of paharganj, dingy Chinese joints of north campus, to plush restaurants of Central Delhi and gurgaon I'll try to conjure a delightful gastronomical journey.
